HAWAII FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL – Decadence, Ko Olina’s Kohala Lagoon 1

An award-winning singer-songwriter Kimie Miner filled the stage of Ko Olina on this day for the annual Hawaii Food & Wine Festival. The festival was undoubtedly fantastic and colorful. This year’s theme was ‘Decadence’.
One of the most popular events of the entire Hawaii Food & Wine Festival is the Ko Olina festival, which is held on a sandy beach of Ko Olina surrounded by luxurious resort-style hotels including Aulani Disney, Four Seasons Resort Oahu, and Marriott Vacation Club. Ko Olina is a resort area located on the west side of Oahu. The general area of Ko Olina is considered luxurious and modern. Since the sun sets west, Ko Olina offers a spectacular sunset view. After sunset, the night sky becomes starry and more beautiful. Attendees enjoyed a romantic feast prepared bythe 12 world-renowned chefs, including Herbert Keller, Jason Fox, Nancy Silverton, Michelle Miner, and Marcel Bigneron. Unlimited wine and cocktails were also up for grabs. There were minor performances on stage throughout the night and the event ended with spectacular fireworks.

하와이 푸드 앤 와인 페스티벌
하와이 음식이 세계적인 트렌드로 부상하게 된 데에는 하와이 푸드 & 와인 페스티벌의 역할이 컸다. 이 축제를 2011년에 처음 만든 사람들은 하와이 전통 음식의 아버지들이라 할 수 있는 로이 야마구치와 알란 웡이다. 하와이 푸드 & 와인 페스티벌은 2011년에 관광객에게 하와이를 찾을 또 한 가지 이유를 만들어 주기 위해 관광 홍보 차원과 하와이 농수산물 업체들의 발전과 활성화를 위해서 만들어졌으며 작은 축제로 시작된 행사는 8년에 걸쳐 발전을 거듭해서 지금은 지금은 3 주에 걸쳐 오아후, 마우이, 하와이 섬에서 크게 열리는 하와이 연중행사 중 규모가 가장 큰 행사이면서 태평양 지역 최고의 관광 축제로 자리매김했다. 각 축제에서는 와인 시음, 요리 시연, 특별 체험, 지역 농산물, 해산물, 육류와 가금류를 활용한 요리가 선보여지는 독특한 다이닝 기회가 마련된다. 수익금은 하와이의 지속가능성, 문화, 교육 프로그램 등 지역사회를 위해 사용된다.
